Comparison
Past life regression vs regression between lives
Past-life regression and Life Between Lives work are related, but they are not the same session. The difference matters when you choose a practitioner and set expectations.
Past-life regression
Past-life regression usually focuses on one or more scenes described as a previous lifetime. The work may explore emotions, relationships, repeated patterns or symbolic themes. It can be shorter than a full between-lives session and is often used as preparation.
Life Between Lives
Life Between Lives work uses a deeper and longer structure. It often begins with a past-life sequence, then moves through death and into the between-lives landscape described in Newton's model. The goal is broader life context rather than only one past-life story.
Which one first?
Many clients start with a shorter regression before booking a full between-lives session. That gives both client and practitioner a sense of hypnotic responsiveness, comfort and pacing.
Side-by-side comparison
| Question | Past-life regression | Between-lives regression |
|---|---|---|
| Intended focus | One or more scenes described as another life | Transition, guides, review and planning in Newton's model |
| Typical scope | A narrower question or repeated pattern | A broader life narrative and spiritual context |
| Time | Often shorter, but varies | Usually a longer appointment with extended intake |
| Preparation | May be used as an introduction to hypnotic regression | Requires careful screening, expectations and integration planning |
| Evidence status | Subjective report, not proof of a past life | Subjective report, not proof of an afterlife or reincarnation |
How to decide
Start with your actual question rather than the most dramatic format. If you want to explore one recurring image, fear or relationship theme, a shorter regression may be enough. If you specifically want to explore Newton's wider between-lives framework and can reserve several hours, a longer session may fit better. Neither option should be sold as a guaranteed route to truth or healing.
An introductory call should cover health screening, the practitioner's experience with each format, total duration, recording, privacy, price and what happens if no imagery develops. A practitioner should be comfortable recommending the shorter option, postponing, or declining when the request is unsuitable.
Do you need to believe in reincarnation?
No fixed belief is necessary to participate, but expectations matter. Some people interpret imagery spiritually, others symbolically or psychologically. Agree in advance that the practitioner will not force one interpretation. The usefulness of reflection and the factual truth of a claimed memory are different questions.
Evidence and limits
Hypnosis itself is studied, but neither past-life nor between-lives regression scientifically establishes reincarnation. Memory is reconstructive, and suggestive methods can contribute to false memories. Treat the content as subjective unless independently corroborated, especially before making claims about other people or changing clinical care.
